Last year over 150 families signed up for Back to Front in Inner NE Leeds. Some of the participants have created wonderful Back to Front gardens full of fruits, vegetables and ideas for making the most of small spaces. And this year we’re back to support more front garden food growing in Harehills, Richmond Hill and Seacroft.
Back to Front will support you to start growing food, even if you have never grown before. We can give you information about garden design, provide you with cheap or free resources, top tips and seeds to suit all tastes. From our experience in Leeds, we know that our project helps people to eat fresher and healthier food, get some exercise and get people talking, connecting and sharing.
Starting again in Spring 2015, Back to Front project workers will be running workshops for local people at Shine in Harehills and at the Fewston Bridge Community Garden in Richmond Hill. Our workshops are fun, accessible and open to all. We welcome first time gardeners and start with simple, easy to grow stuff. You can learn all about food growing and making your own gardening equipment from watering cans to pallets for herb gardens. But mostly, it is about having fun, having a go and feeling better for it.
